Criteria For Hunter Selection Process

Horse Jumping
All divisions that are currently restricted to 15 horses allow 12 horses from Ontario selected on their standings as per CEF guidelines. All divisions allowing 20 horses will accept 16 from Ontario.

3 horses/ponies will be accepted from Quebec in all divisions except Children's: 4 horses; Adult: 5 horses. The first two accepted to be based solely on Quebec provincial standings.

1 horse/pony from Atlantic Canada: if there are no horses from Western Canada, Atlantic Canada may pick up a second allotment provided they fill all qualifications.

2 horse/ponies from Prairie/Western Canada: if there are no horses from one region entered the other region may pick up the second spot provided they are qualified.

The horse/pony must have competed in CEF recognized horse shows in the division which they are entering a minimum of four times, and must have won ribbons 1-4 placings in that division. The recording of the placings are the responsibility of the exhibitor but the selection process will depend on the official results being available from the Provincial Federations.

In Quebec, the horse/pony should be placed in the top eight of their division in the Quebec standings.

In Atlantic/Prairie/Western Canada the horse/pony must be in the top five in their division.

Any horse/pony showing outside their home province, will have their points earned outside added to their own provincial points provided that all the Provincial standings are received by the RAWF office at the close of entries.

As a result of this, for example, the second place pony in New Brunswick may be selected ahead of the first place pony in New Brunswick because the second place pony earned points outside the province and the first place did not. From Ontario and Quebec the top two in the provincial standings are automatically accepted.

Should a horse qualify in two provinces (minimum of four shows in each), he shall be deemed as selected from the higher placed province, i.e. a pony that is 10th place in Ontario and first place in Quebec will count as a Quebec entry and the 13th place pony in Ontario will qualify.

A change of ownership will not affect qualifications.

A horse showing in the USA may add placings in the USA to their entry form but the horse must have competed and earned points in their home province to be considered and the American results MAY only be used as a tiebreaker.

The divisions are restricted to a maximum of 18/19 entries with a guarantee of 15 entries accepted.

Adult hunter restricted to 24 with a guarantee of 20 accepted entries.

If there are no entries from the East or West, another Ontario entry will not be accepted. If there are fewer entries than offered from Quebec, the total number from Ontario/East/West will be 15/20 entries

Non-residents may be considered through participation and qualification in Canadian shows.

A wait list will be maintained until the Friday prior to the start of the horse show.
