Safety First

Medical Advisory

The Royal is a source of many potential allergens. Please consult with children and their parents for sensitivity to animals and field crops. ANYONE WITH SERIOUS ALLERGIES, ASTHMA OR HAY FEVER SHOULD BE ADVISED NOT TO ATTEND. Children should carry any medication they may need with them. Do not leave medication on the bus or with teachers. If children show any sign of difficulty please monitor them carefully and be familiar with the location of the First Aid office or information booths.

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT STUDENTS NOT TOUCH THE HORSES OR LIVESTOCK WITHOUT THE OWNER'S PERMISSION. PLEASE REMEMBER LARGE ANIMALS CAN BE DANGEROUS...ALWAYS ASK FIRST!

Teachers and Chaperones

Organize group leaders/chaperons. Provide each with information, including:

  • class (or group) list and name tags
  • safety and emergency procedures regarding lost children, lost and found, first aid
  • school name, address, telephone number and teacher name
  • map of the Royal; note washroom locations and Lost Children's Room
  • departure time and location (from The Royal)

We suggest dividing students into tour groups. Note that not all students need to tour the entire fair. Consider assigning different areas of the fair to designated groups to study in greater detail. They could develop their own research plan, prior to coming to the fair, then give class presentations back in the classroom.

Speak to your class about the importance of courtesy and respect for all visitors, exhibits and animals

Lost Children

The Lost Children Office is located at the South end of the Lower East Annex, east of the Royal Horse Show and directly beside the Knob Hill Petting Farm and Sheep exhibit. Be sure all students know to go immediately to the Lost Children Office if they become separated from their group. There are also Security Officers on site who will assist children in getting to the office.

Lost and Found

Located in the Security office, near the South Entrance and School Entrance. Check any Information Booth for directions

First Aid

First Aid is stationed in the Galleria, near the South Entrance and the Bank of Montreal Education Ring. Paramedics on bike patrol are also located throughout the building. Please notify Security for first aid assistance.
